It’s a warm Bootiful Game welcome to Thackley’s new Joint Manager Pat McGuire, who couldn’t have a much tougher introduction to his new role than the visit of high-flying, in-form Penistone Church to Dennyfield on Saturday-and Pat is already clear that his 18th-placed team will be concentrating on their own game rather than that of the opposition, writes Colin Muncie.
Pat told TBG “Regarding Saturday, obviously it’s all change at the club and we have new ideas that we’re looking to implement. It’s a tough test for our first game as Penistone have been on a good run and will be a strong outfit, but we’ll be focussing on our own team as Mike (Garrod, Joint Manager) and I have faith in the lads we have -and will look to get the best out of them”.
Pat is looking over his shoulder and knows his team need to start picking up points urgently “ It doesn’t matter whether we play teams at the top or around us near the bottom, our attitude has to be spot on” Pat told us “We need to start picking up points again and pull ourselves away from a relegation dog fight”.
“We’re not expecting miracles overnight- and there’s a long road ahead -but the lads will know what’s expected come 3pm on Saturday.”
