Hallam management team envisaging tough test against Worsbrough

The weather hasn’t been at all kind to Hallam during January, to the extent that they sit tenth in Toolstation NCEL Division One. Tomorrow, the Countrymen look to get their Play-Off push back on track-but to do so, they’ll have to overcome a Worsborough Bridge Athletic team which will be unrecognisable from the one which lost 7-0 in the reverse fixture at Sandygate back in October, writes Colin Muncie.

Joint Manager Scott Bates told the Bootiful Game that he’s expecting his players to be ready.“With not having a game last weekend, and a couple of good training sessions, the lads should be looking forward to the game. We had a friendly at the beginning of the week to get the lads minutes on the pitch. Hopefully we’ll have a couple more additions before Saturday, which will give us more competition for places”.

Joint Manager Steven Whitehead is certain that the Briggers will be a difficult proposition at Park Road tomorrow. “This Saturday will be tough, as they are a totally different team to the last time we played. It will be good to get a game in as it seems an age since we last played. We will need to perform to come away with anything from Saturday’s game”.

Assistant Manager Dean Bamforth is looking forward to catching up with an old pal tomorrow-and if Worsborough manager Lee Morris is the student, Dean is definitely the teacher! Dean told us “I’m looking forward to Saturday, as Mozza is a big mate of mine whose opinion in football I value. He asked me to join him when at Frickley -so yeah, we’re mates and talk regularly. He will sort Worsborough out, no doubt about it -but like us, it takes time to get the right players in”.

Dean isn’t planning to change Hallam’s blueprint ahead of the trip to Barnsley , and he was quick to underline his credentials as a mentor. “ We prepare for every game much the same , whether the opponents are top or bottom, and Saturday will be the same” he said.” If we play like we did at Selby between now and the end of the season, we’ll not be far off –we just need a bit of luck and decent officials”.

“We’ll have got 2 terrific new signings in for Saturday which will go straight in. I’m not prepared to confirm the names until the paperwork is done, as we’ve been gazumped before!!!

“…and to finish -I taught Lee Morris everything he knows about bricklaying, so don’t let him tell you different”.
