Millington delighted whilst Dodsworth frustrated as Dronfield Town Nostell

First up in our review of yesterday’s Toolstation NCEL League programme is Dronfield Town Manager Chris Millington.Speaking to us before the game, Chris had warned that the Division One trip to 19th-placed Nostell Miners Welfare was a significant test for his side, suggesting that the clash in New Crofton had assumed six-pointer status. So it’s fair to assume that Chris will enjoy the rest of his weekend  after a 1-0 win at the Welfare Ground put even more daylight between his seventeenth-placed side and the clubs below them, writes Colin Muncie.

Mark Fereday’s ninth minute goal was the difference between the two sides in a game watched by a crowd of 52 at the Crofton Community Centre.

Chris told the Bootiful Game that he felt his side’s margin of victory understated their performance “We were great today. The way that we applied ourselves for 90 minutes was great. I think the one-nil flattered them a little as we created lots of chances but their keeper played very well”

“That’s two clean sheets on the bounce which shows how far we have come as a group since we came in” Chris added.” Our next test will be if we can keep this consistency up and improve on the last two performances”.

By contrast, there was nothing but frustration in the home technical area. Nostell’s  Joint Manager told the Bootiful Game “Frustrated!!! Disappointed!!!! It’s one step forward, two steps back!! We asked the lads for consistency and we got the opposite today. From the first whistle we looked out of sorts and knew it could be a long afternoon”.

Nostell’s game plan was undone by a pre-match blow.” We made a few changes and with a bad injury to Wayne Ball in the warm up, we were forced into changing formation and personnel” Jason told us “ We need to find a level of performance that takes us forward- but had too many players out of sorts today. We had quite a few missing due to injuries and suspensions but that’s no excuse -the lads should be fighting for their shirts”.

“We will start again in training this week and try to lift ourselves for next week”.
