The Head of Media Operations at Bottesford Town, Howard Pirie, is always a welcome and valuable contributor –and friend-to the Bootiful Game. As well as working with one of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division’s surprise packages, he also has a decent music collection, and Howard delved into his archives after his nine-man Poachers side went down 3-0 at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare at Birkdale Park yesterday afternoon-and whilst it wasn’t the champagne supernova Howard had been looking for, you get the impression that he was prepared to roll with it, writes Colin Muncie.
Howard admitted that the two red cards incurred by Bottesford didn’t reflect the nature of the game at Ontario Road “We’re obviously disappointed with the scoreline. Getting our centre back sent off after ten minutes doesn’t help the team. Even after that, I didn’t think that Hemsworth caused us that many problems. But then another sending off is the end for us. It wasn’t a dirty game.”
Howard doesn’t think that Bottesford are too far away from the finished article, and maybe need to work on being a little more streetwise. “It shows to me there isn’t that much difference between most teams in this division” he said, adding” but we maybe need to develop a bit more “savvy”.”
“As in the words of Oasis “We won’t look back in anger”.
