Hall Road Rangers lost their East Riding Senior Cup Quarter Final 3-1 to Hull City’s Academy squad last night-but despite the loss, Rangers Manager Bill Gill saw plenty to please him, writes Colin Muncie.
Bill told the Bootiful Game “I can’t fault the boys tonight. They were excellent; they gave a very good account of themselves against tough opposition that were very repetitive and fit The game plan on forty-five minutes couldn’t have gone any better . We asked the lads not to press- as that’s what Hull like you to do, and then pass it around you. The lads did this and kept their shape and discipline right to the end.
With the sides level at 1-1 at the break, Bill was disappointed that his side suffered two quick setbacks shortly after the interval. “I said at half time that an error would cost us the game” he said. “It was that type of night and unfortunately for us it did on 46 mins. After that we were chasing the game and they got a third quickly. I felt for the last half hour of the game we had more possession and dominated at times; we hit the post and had three very good chances tonight”.
“It could have easily been a different outcome but it just wasn’t our night -and credit to the opposition”.
