On Sunday, Yorkshire International Football Association played their first game at Hemsworth MW ground against Ellan Vallin and drew 1-1 – with Jordan Coduri scoring their first ever goal – their equaliser mid-way through the second half.
Manager Ryan Farrell was pleased with the draw, “The performance I thought the lads were brilliant from start to finish. Their application and desire was admirable.
“When Jordan scored I was obviously extremely happy for him and the team but more so of how the goal was executed and how creative it was. I want goals like that to be our identity.
“The performance showed that we can play but we can also compete on this level, I feel performances like that will hold us in good stead going forward.
“Man of the match Ed Hall was fantastic. His distribution and shot stopping was of an extremely high standard. He’s also a great person to have around the team.
“We will hopefully add to the squad, we need to strength in depth and increase numbers to accommodate any injuries our squad players pick up from games with their clubs.
“The support was amazing, exactly as imagined. Loud, passionate and proud.
Whilst Captain Patrick McGuire added, “Fantastic occassion yesterday, not just for us all as players but the team behind it all who’ve put YIFA together. To see it all come to fruition is a proud moment for everyone involved. To say we had only had about 20minutes training together last week I thought we gave a good account of ourselves.
“Ryan Farrell has done a great job putting a good group of lads together and we’ve struck a real bond quickly and we’re already all looking forward to the next game. From a personal point of view its a massive honour being named as captain.
“The result on Sunday against a team who are 4th in the CONIFA rankings has given us the world of confidence and we back ourselves to be a force in the near future and look forward to representing all things Yorkshire.”
