As listeners to the third Bootiful Podcast will know, Hemsworth Miners Welfare Manager Wayne Benn always offers an honest, high-quality and considered opinion of football in general and the NCEL in particular-and as he prepares to welcome seventeenth-placed Staveley Miners Welfare to the Yorkshire NuBuilds Stadium in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division tomorrow, Wayne admits that he’ll be pleased to win “ugly” if needs be, but it’s not his preferred outcome, writes Colin Muncie.
Wayne told the Bootiful Game “On Saturday we entertain Staveley hoping to build on our last couple of victories. Whilst we haven’t quite been at our best in those games I’m pleased that we have managed to grind out two good wins. I’ll take that again on Saturday if I have to- but we place a lot of importance on performances and I’d like a good one to accompany a win if possible”.
Wayne knows that Saturday’s visitors won’t be coming to Fitzwilliam to make up the numbers “We know that when we are at our best we are a very difficult side to play against, and our aim is to make life very difficult for Staveley on Saturday” he said. “We know it won’t be easy. Staveley are a good side and they will be looking for a strong finish to the season.
“Every game throws up a different challenge in this league -and we must be ready for whatever comes our way on Saturday”.
