Bottesford took ‘Dry January’ a bit too literally for Pirie’s liking!

It’s not “London Calling”, but Scunthorpe Calling for Bridlington Town on Saturday when they visit twelfth –placed Bottesford Town in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division-and as the Poachers Head of Media Operations, Howard Pirie, reminds us, and from the title of the Joe Strummer documentary, “The future is unwritten”, writes Colin Muncie.

Howard told the Bootiful Game that he wants his side to get off the wagon tomorrow “We look forward to the visit of Bridlington on Saturday. The boys took Dry January too literally as we didn’t win a game. Luckily we enter “Thrash Everyone February” with renewed vigour.”

Howard and his off-field team are making great progress at Ontario Road but he wants Town to recover their early-season form when Bridlington come calling.“Everything is in place off the Park, club shop is going well,(“Lost in the supermarket”, perhaps?) banter in the stands and a general great team spirit on and off the park. But talk is cheap -it’s time to roll our sleeves up and kick butt. We want to send the Seasiders home with their deck chairs firmly between their legs”.

“As in the words of The Clash- we need to “Rock the Casbah”
