It was a frustrating afternoon for Athersley Rec, as they missed the chance to put some further ground between themselves and the relegated zone – as they went down 3-1 away at Albion Sports.
Rec did take the leed on 21 minutes through Lee Garside, but Josh Moreley and a brace from Daniel Facey just after the break saw the game turn on it’s head and all three points stay at Throstle Nest.
Earlier this week striker Kai Hancock re-signed for Rec and gave us his thoughts following the loss, “I thought they deserved the win in the end, they wanted it more the second half. Both teams could have been out of sight first half both created plenty off chances but failed to take them, including me, but I suppose that’s a confidence thing that only I can work on.
“We switched off a couple of times and they punished us. It’s really disappointing because today was a perfect opportunity to get another win under our belt and get that winning mentality running through the team. But we have to pick ourself up and go again Wednesday against Hemsworth because we know it will be no easy game.”
