Mason happy with the 3 points, but not so with the performance!

Last up in our weekend’s reports is Scott Mason, the Maltby Main manager enjoyed a narrow 3-2 win at Muglet Lane against Billy Fox’s Parkgate.

Maltby snuck up to 3rd place in the NCEL Premier Division after Pickering Town has their game postponed, with a brace from Ryan Smyth and a good finish from Bradley Kilner, Mason was pleased to come away with all three points.

“Well it was a one of them games on Saturday, a typical local derby. We went in at half-time happy and came in at full-time happy with the 3 points but not so happy with the performance.

“We played some really good football at times yesterday in the first half and should have gone in with a better advantage. But then I feel we didn’t come back out and play anything like we was so that let Parkgate back in the game. And at 3-1 the next goal is the important one. And Parkgate got this. Which gave them more confidence.

“We’ve conceded some late goals this season and a really late one on Wednesday night . So at 3-2 it was a concern but credit to all the lads we grafted hard and defended from the front and in the end got the deserved win.
