Pirie has a Valentine’s message ahead of difficult Parkgate test

“Slippery when wet”; Howard Pirie, Bottesford Town’s Head of Media Operations references Bon Jovi’s top selling album when asked about likely conditions for tonight’s Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash with Parkgate at Birkdale Stadium tonight-and ever the romantic, Howard bookends his preview of the game with a Valentine’s message for his Poachers squad -and a look back at New York’s finest hip-hop band, writes Colin Muncie.

Howard told the Bootiful Game, “’With it being Valentine’s Day, my message to the team is KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). I’ve mentioned the consistency and once again we didn’t produce a result against Handsworth after a really gritty performance the week before. We need eleven captains in that dressing room- you only get to play football for so long and you can’t be sitting down at end of games with regrets”.

Howard certainly doesn’t think that ability is the issue right now. “These lads have got so much potential- but at times do not realise how good they can be. It’s all very well talking the talk in between games but they need to walk the walk on the pitch. The BBA love these lads to bits, but you have to be cruel to be kind”

“As in the words of The Beastie Boys “You’ve got to fight for the right to party”.
