Marshy anticipating tough Hemsworth encounter

It’s fifth versus sixth tomorrow in the NCEL Premier Division as Pickering Town make the trip South-West to the MDC Stadium, to face Wayne Benn’s Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Hemsworth have had a difficult time playing as of late, having been three weeks without a competitive fixture, something Benn touched on in his pre-match thoughts.

Whilst Pickering Town have managed to play twice in the same period, a 7-0 hammering of Garforth Town, then a narrow 4-3 loss in midweek to fellow promotion hopefuls Pontefract Collieries – however this was in the NCEL League Cup 3rd Round.

Pikes manager Paul Marshall is under no illusions that Saturday’s encounter is going to be difficult, “Tough, tough game against one of the better teams in our league. They always play well against us, they try and stop us playing with sheer hard work and press you high up the field and then earn the right to pass it which they are well capable of doing.

“Benno (Hemsworth MW Manager Wayne Benn) has done a great job and will be looking at finishing the season as high as possible, just like us.”
