Thomson apoplectic after Brigg’s relegation disastrous defeat

It was a real 6-pointer between NCEL Division One sides FC Bolsover and Brigg Town yesterday as a loss for either side would see them end the weekend in the relegation zone.

A single goal from James Munson mid-way through the first half settled the game – however Brigg did end up with just 9-men following two quick red cards.

Thompson was understandly upset after his side’s poor display, “Yes very disappointed after a long drive home. Don’t want to say anything I will regret but the worst I have felt in all the years I have managed and coached football.

“We was just not at the races. Even so the score line was only 1-nil and we was down to 9-men we didn’t play how we know we can and today I can see why we are 21st in league.

“I can sit here and blame everyone – the ref, lineman etc but as usual I take the full wrap for the defeat. But the players need to have a look at themselves aswell and decide where we go from here, because today again we threw away an opportunity to get out of the bottom two.”
