Both sets of managers expect tough game as Nostell host high-flying Borough

Hot on the heels of their excellent home win over Selby last Friday evening, Nostell Miners Welfare welcome Grimsby Borough –third in Toolstation NCEL Division One  to the Welfare Ground  in New Crofton tomorrow– and Nostell Joint Manager Jason Dodsworth is expecting a cracking afternoon , writes Colin Muncie.

Jason told the Bootiful Game “It’s another game against a side going for promotion. It’s another Cup Final for our lads and another game where I am sure we will be tested by a good Grimsby team. I know a few of their players from my time at Athersley as they have some ex-Cleethorpes players who we played against so I know they’re going to be a good side. We will still be buzzing after our win against Selby so am sure the fans will be treated to another good game. This game will show us where we are as a team though- as Grimsby are one of the teams I’m expecting to go up this year”.

Nostell are eighteenth in the table, but with games in hand, the teams above them are within reach-but Jason is keeping his feet firmly on the ground, although he will have two significant additions on display tomorrow” We are just taking one game at a time and trying to get away from the relegation zone” he said “but as a management team we can’t ask any more from the lads at the moment”.

“We will have Joe Thornton and Rhys Meynell available for the first time too -so that will strengthen our squad even more”.

Whilst joint Borough manager Daniel Barrett commented, “Saturday will be a very difficult game against a team who are on a good little run of results- especially against teams higher up the pack.

“It is always a hard place to go and they have certainly picked up as of late. We are looking forward to getting another game under our belt and hopefully the pitch will be up to it’s usual high standards.”

Nathan Collins, Borough’s other joint manager added, “We are expecting a really tough game as they have signed some decent players and have had some really good results lately but I am confident in our squad and know that if we perform like I know we can we are capable of getting a positive result. We have a couple of good players returning on Saturday which will give the lads a lift so let’s hope for another 3 points.
