Brigg Town went down battling yesterday as the Toolstation NCEL Division One side lost 4-0 at home to League Leaders Knaresborough Town at The Hawthorns yesterday-it was all square at half time –and Zebras Manager Lee Thompson was full of praise for both teams, writes Colin Muncie.
The home crowd of 119 saw Knaresborough seize the initiative in that second half through Dan Thirkell (48 minutes), Stephen Bromley (67), Brad Walker (89) and Thirkell again (90).
Lee told the Bootiful Game that his game plan was spot on in that first forty-five minutes “The lads did everything we asked in the first half. We frustrated a very good side and limited them to half chances whilst creating chances ourselves. It was nil-nil at half time and I couldn’t pick on anything negative. We conceded after two minutes in the second half and that settled them, but the two late goals – 89 and 90 minutes- were irrelevant as their second goal killed the contest”
“I am proud of the lads today and we’ll take a lot of positives into next week’s game” Lee added “and we wish Knaresborough all the best for the season, as they play the football the right way”.
