Winterton Wressell all three points off Retford Utd

Winterton Rangers kept their foot firmly on the play-off pedal with a narrow 1-0 victory over bottom-side Retford United. Kieran Wressell scored the only goal of the game after 17 minutes to gift Rangers the win.

Winterton manager Rob Watson commented after the game, “Delighted with the win. It was a hard fought battle after going nearly 40 mins with 10-men. Retford’s team didnt reflect their league position.

“They made it hard work for us today but with 10 men i was happy with how well we defended. After louis bemrose was sent off we changed things up a bit and brought on new signing ryan Hollingsworth. He was excellent holding up the ball and could of scored if it wasnt for a good save from retfords keepers.

“Three points today keeps us in the race for the playoffs, I honestly feel it will go down to the end this season. A lot of teams around us still have difficult games but so do we. We need to maintain this unbeaten run to keep us in the running.”
