Hardwick explains his decision in stepping down & gives thoughts ahead of Tuesday’s game

Clipstone have announced that Jamie Hardwick has stepped down as manager of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side having accepted a new role as head of coaching and development at Scunthorpe United.

His Assistant Alan Widdowson has accepted an invitation from the club’s committee to be his successor with Jamie continuing to be a key part of the Cobras set-up as he will support Alan as part of the Management team.

Jamie explained the background to a busy week at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium when he spoke to the Bootiful Game editor Craig Kendall. “A lot has happened this week with me” Jamie explained.”I was offered the job of Head of Coaching and  Player Development at Scunthorpe United which I accepted starting Thursday 1st March; leaving Mansfield Town FC (where he was Performance Group Lead Coach for 16-18 year olds ). With this in mind it was decided by myself and the Clipstone committee to let Alan Widdowson ,my Assistant, take over as Manager but I will be assisting him when possible as the club looks to bring in an Assistant to help with our under 21’s coach Steve Smith”.

Alan ‘s first game in charge is a tough looking home assignment with Maltby Main. “Going into Tuesday night’s game against Maltby, Alan will be taking over, “Jamie told us.“ He’ll look to keep the same principles and philosophy from when we both took the job on. This is the structure we set up and put in place just in case something like this happened, looking to keep the club values and beliefs, and  preparing for next season”

“The team will be going into the game to show some hard work and commitment bringing the correct attitude to get three points- and show the local crowd a better performance than the last game at home to Thackley, when they let themselves down in the first half”.
