It was a big night at Park Road last night for two teams at either end of the Toolstation NCEL Division One spectrum; and when the final whistle sounded, Winterton Rangers had moved back into seventh place in the table, just one point behind sixth-placed Selby Town after a 2-0 away win over Worsborough Bridge Athletic, who remain third-bottom-and Briggers fair-minded Manager Lee Morris, pleased with his own side’s display, offered generous praise to the visitors, writes Colin Muncie.
Rangers took a 2-0 lead into the break after a first minute goal from Robbie Start and a second from Luke Anderson right on half time. The 38-strong crowd saw a goalless second period to clinch the points for Winterton.
Lee told the Bootiful Game “First of all I thought tonight we’ve played one of best teams in this league and, fair play to Winterton, I hope they get in the Play-Offs; but we certainly matched them the game was settled by an absolute wonder goal -the lad will never score one like that again- and a goalkeeping mistake. Apart from those two moments there was nothing really in the game”.
Lee wasn’t downcast by how the Briggers did on the night “We certainly won’t be taking any negatives away from the game tonight and already I can’t wait for Saturday. We will play a lot worse than that and win games from now until the end of season. You just don’t seem to get the luck when you’re down there.
“Like I said, though; fair play to Winterton- they got the three points and we go again on Saturday”.
