You’ve heard of the saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, then try, try again.” Well that resonates a lot with Saturday’s NCEL League Cup Third Round tie between East Yorkshire Carnegie and Grimsby Borough as they have already this fixture postponed – twice!
Joint manager Daniel Barrett is hopeful for the game to go ahead especially after his side made a real midweek statement beating Nostell Miners Welfare 6-0, “It is good for us to have a little break from the league and with a busy fixture list and hard games coming up it’s a opportunity to use our squad.
“Saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets called off again.”
Whilst Nathan Collins, Borough’s other joint manager commented, “We have quite a few niggles and lads away as it was due to be a free weekend for us so it will be a case of playing some lads who have been on the bench and some of our reserve players which will be good for them.
“If I’m honest my main concern is promotion so we will go there with no pressure and just enjoy the game.”
