Pickering Town sit fourth in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and are right in the middle of the scrap for the title. Tomorrow, they welcome sixteenth-placed Athersley Recreation to the Recreation Club-and Penguins Manager Luke Potter is glad to be back in competitive action, writes Colin Muncie.
Luke told the Bootiful Game “It’ll be nice to get a run of games on without a two week break each time we play. The weather since November has been crazy and there is nothing we can do but if we have any more bad weather, how are we going to get the games in?? We’re lucky we’ve had an indoor facility to use locally to keep us ticking over. It’s a good blow out and togetherness isn’t easy to keep going when you know games are going to be off all the time. But we’ve managed 6 games indoor and I think the staff/older players team are winning 5-1!”
Luke doesn’t underestimate the weekend’s opponents “Saturday doesn’t get any harder” he admitted.” Pickering are a very good side and have great ability so we will have to be near our best to get anything from the game. After Saturday we’ll have Lee Garside – who is very big player for us- back from suspension and a couple back from knocks”.
