It was a good weekend for Yaxley, who extended their lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory on Friday night away at title rivals Deeping Rangers. Matt Sparrow with the first half goal to inflict Deeping’s first home defeat in over 12 months, writes Simon Davidson.
Second placed Newport Pagnell Town were unable to close the gap on Saturday, losing 2-1 away to struggling Sleaford Town. Jack Pemberton gave Sleaford a first half lead which was cancelled out by Fazel Koriya. A late George Couzens strike earned Sleaford the win. Pagnell will move to the top of the table if they win their remaining games in hand.
5th placed Holbeach also dropped points, losing 1-0 away to mid table Cogenhoe, Sean McBride with the all important goal.
At the other end of the table St Andrews moved away from the drop with an impressive 4-1 win at home to Boston Town, meaning Dennis Greene’s poor start at Boston Town continues. The former Boston United manager is still to pick up a point after replacing former manager Garry Frost who was controversially sacked to make way for Greene and the funding he brings.
