It has been a torrid time for the passed few month’s and especially the last couple of week’s as Dulwich Hamlet were evicted from their home ground Champion Hill.
However, Southwark Council approved an application to purchase the land from Meadow tonight. If Meadow refuse to sell, the council can then apply for a compulsory purchase order.
The leader of the council, Peter John, a voiciferous supporter of the club, stated at a meeting of the council cabinet; “We know this is about council housing but it is also about securing the future of Dulwich Hamlet FC, which is precious to the people of this borough. We do not want to see their future jeopardised any more.”
The council then voted unanimously to proceed with the plan.
The club have urged Meadow to enter negotiations swiftly so that they can can return home.
