Leading Toolstation NCEL Division One by 12 clear points, Knaresborough Town head south to Derbyshire and another tough-looking match-up with Chris Millington’s 12th-placed Downfield Town-and Knaresborough Assistant Manager Paul Clayton is anticipating a rigorous examination at Stonelow Road, writes Colin Muncie.
Paul told the Bootiful Game “We are looking forward to the game on Saturday against Dronfield. We had a terrific performance and result on Tuesday night at Shirebrook so the squad is in an excellent frame of mind and looking forward to the undoubted challenge that Dronfield will pose us on Saturday. They are in good form lately having won 6 out of their last 9 league games, and they have beaten some really good sides in that run- so we are under no illusions as to the task that awaits”.
Paul isn’t concerned that his squad won’t be able to compensate if a key member of his squad fails to make the trip. “We will have to check on the fitness of Gregg Anderson as he had to go off at half time against Shirebrook” Paul told us “but both centre-backs who played the second half on Tuesday were excellent, so if Gregg isn’t fit then we are in good hands.
Paul knows that the season has reached a critical stage.” We are now on the final run in so every point is vital” he said “and I am sure there will be lots of twists and turns still to come. I will use the old cliché of ‘one game at a time’ and that’s what we will be doing, starting by focusing on Saturday.
If we work hard and do the things we are good at, it will go a long way to helping us try and get a positive result.
