It’s quite unusual for a game to be postponed on multiple occasions but East Yorkshire Carnegie and Grimsby Borough’s NCEL League Cup Third Round tie has been postponed a massive 4 times already – and tomorrow’s game is already in doubt.
Joint Borough manager Daniel Barrett has previous suggested that the game should be played at a neutral venue which didn’t go down with the EYC faithful for obvious reasons.
However we caught up with Barrett today ahead of the tie, “Like I said before something needs to be done- common sense has to come into making a decision.”
We jokingly asked Barrett if “Rock, Paper, Scissors” or a cross bar challenge was an easier way to solve the situation, “I honestly don’t know. Hopefully it’s on!”
Whilst EYC assistant manager Lewis Sarel was too optimistic of it going ahead, “After the weather we have had it looks like it’s going to be the 5th postponement of this game.
“Our pitch isn’t handling the weather that well and we’ve had a lot of rain and snow in the last week. It would be nice to just get this game played and get it done with now.”
