Spartan South Midlands League Round Up – Saturday 17th March

Artic weather arrived again at the weekend, two weeks after everyone thought spring was ready but they were wrong and even worse, snow caused disruption on the roads and also football pitches got beaten by snow, writes Connor Tuplin. Luckily for Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, just above the half arrange fixtures just managed to beat cold.

Wembley vs Berkhamsted
Berkhamsted still hanging on first place on table after beaten good old Wembley 3-1 with an attendence of 50 people.

Welwyn Garden City vs Biggleswade United
Welwyn garden City are still challenging Barkhamsted with 5 games in a hand after beaten Biggleswade United 6-1.

Leighton Town vs Oxhey Jets
Big numbers of crowds watched Leighton won 2-0 and oxhey jets still battling to avoid relegation.

Leverstock Green vs Cockfosters
Cockfosters managed to beat Leverstock green 4-3 but surprisingly small crowds of 28 only watched 7 goal thriller match.

Harpenden Town vs Hadley
4th placed Harpenden Town managed to beat 11th placed Hadley 2-0.

Edgware Town vs Holmer Green
Holmer Green are working hard to survive this season with 4 games in a hand and 1 point above the zones, its likely but who knows.

Holmer Green trying getting points to survive after drew with Edgware with 46 people watched the game.

Colney Heath vs Stotfold
Similar story to Holmer green but 4 points to avoid the zones. Decent crowds of 73 people watched after Stotfold drew with Colney heath 2-2.

Also a similar story in Division One. The weather and pitches tried to beat the weather. Only 5 games were played.

Baldock vs Risborough Rangers
2nd placed Baldock disappointingly drew with 7th placed Risborough Rangers 1-1 with an attendence of 48 people.

Brimsdown vs Langford
Brimsdown managed to beat 16th placed Langford 5-2 after an attendance of 6 people. Yes 6 people! We appreciate their bravery to watch a 7-goal thriller with cold and freezing winds.

Buckingham Athletic vs Hillingdon Borough
17th placed Hillingdon Borough are underdogs and guess what? They managed to beat 9th Queen’s House, Buckingham Athletic 4-3.

St Neots Reserves vs Hatfield

St Neots Town reserves are currently struggling in the league and they are at bottom with 5 points to survive after an attendence of 50 saw St Neots Town Reserves lose to Hatfield 1-0.

Winslow United vs Harefield
Winslow United and Harefield are even after draw 3-3 despite 5 places apart.
