Nine games and 27 points left to play for Toolstation NCEL Division One table-toppers Knaresborough Town, who tonight welcome tenth-placed Rossington Main, still very much in the Play-Off shake up-and for Knaresborough’s Gregg Anderson it’s one step at a time, writes Colin Muncie.
Gregg told the Bootiful Game “Tonight’s match is the next most important game! We aren’t looking beyond the next opposition as we would be very naive if we did! They are no gimmes in this league, as the majority of teams still have something to play for -from going for the Title, to Play-Offs ,to relegation battles. We welcome Rossington to Manse Lane and we know this is going to be another tough game! They all are! They have some very good players who can be match winners for them so we need to be right at it from the first whistle! We drew 0-0 at their place earlier on in the season and they were a tough team to break down!”
Gregg feels that his team have enough to take the game to anyone right now, including the trio of recent acquisitions. “The way we are playing at the moment is pleasing to see” he said “The lads are playing with a freedom and most of them are playing at the top of their game and that’s what is required at this stage of the season! I’m really pleased with the new lads who have come in, Tom (Young), Luke (Stewart) and Nick (Black) have settled in really well and the squad at the moment is looking strong. We trained well on Saturday as the game against Dronfield was called off-no surprise really with the weather at the moment! Every time we ask them to put in a shift in training their attitudes are spot on and the standard and sharpness in all of them is a credit to themselves.
“We will be forced into making a few changes for tonight’s game due to injuries and work commitments, but it’s a chance for the players coming in to do well and give us headaches (all being good ones) in team selection.”
