It’s as busy a time at Dennyfield as it is here at TBG Towers as the fixture conveyor sees fourteenth-placed Thackley travel to Staveley Miners Welfare (18th) in an important Toolstation NCEL Premier Division fixture tomorrow night-and Dennyboys Joint Manager Mike Garrod feels that his side will be battling travel fatigue as well as the opposition between now and the season’s end, writes Colin Muncie.
Mike told the Bootiful Game “It’s a quick turnaround for us having only played yesterday, but we should take confidence with how the lads kept going until the last minute to get a result. The conditions were tricky and Athersley set out with a clear plan, so we have to be pleased with the application we have shown. With Staveley tomorrow it’s another away trip for us; we only have two home games out of our last eight so we will have to battle with a few longer midweek journeys which aren’t ideal with player’s availability. Staveley are in need of points so we know it’s going to be a tough game and will need to be at our best to come away with three points”.
“It’s really important that we finish the year strongly; there’s the points target that we’ve set and competition for starting places -so we expect the lads to be on their game tomorrow evening”.
