Knaresborough Town – on the verge of a thoroughly well-deserved Toolstation NCEL Division One title -suffered two consecutive defeats to the weather this week , leaving them just adrift of mathematically clinching the Championship. They ll head to Castleford on Saturday hoping to wrap things up ; but lying in wait are in-form and sixth-placed Glasshoughton Welfare, with their own promotion agenda still very much alive- and Knaresborough Assistant Manager Paul Clayton found a silver lining in this week’s clouds, writes Colin Muncie.
Paul told the Bootiful Game “The weather has been really frustrating this week, in fact it’s been a pain in the backside for the last 4 or 5 months, so hopefully we will get the game on at Glasshoughton this Saturday. We are in a great position but we still have to finish the season off so we could have done without the postponements we’ve had this week. Having said that it may not be too bad a thing as we were looking at 5 games in 9 days so the players have now had a good week off and are all really looking forward to playing on Saturday”
Paul will be wary of the home side at the TJ’s ” Glasshoughton are in good form and will be looking to win the game to keep up their push for a Play-Off place, so it will be a difficult game. We will go into the game in the right frame of mind, willing to work hard, as we always do and do everything we can to get the result we all want”.
Paul hopes that the relative proximity of the fixture will mean a strong travelling support. He told us “It should be a cracking game and it’s one of our closest away games so it would be fantastic to see a lot of Knaresboro Town fans there cheering the players on”.
