Pirie wishes people would stop spreading “sky blue” rumours…

Having returned safely to the Earth’s atmosphere after that stratospheric dash to Maltby Main in midweek, Bottesford Town‘s Head of Media Operations and Spiderman from Mars Howard Pirie is likely to be back on footie duty at the Birkdale Stadium in Scunthorpe this afternoon when the Poachers welcome 18th-placed Staveley Miners Welfare in Toolstation NCEL Premier Division, writes Colin Muncie.

Note that this fixture is subject to a 10 am pitch inspection

Howard was pleased with what he saw despite that 4-2 Muglet Lane defeat on Thursday, but he’s not expecting the Ontario Road playing surface to be at its best today if the fixture goes ahead. He told the Bootiful Game “The  boys all put a good night’s shift in against Maltby in horrible conditions. We dominated possession for large parts of the game only to be picked off at crucial moments. Hopefully, it’ll be back to winning ways against Staveley -but the pitch will be a pudding; only 10 games left (quarter of the season)”.

Howard provided some upbeat news about the Bottesford weather. “There’s been a mention of blue sky today- I wish people would stop spreading these rumours “ he told us .”Still, we’ve got Craig Bridge to keep us amused with his alternative comedy. I can honestly say he’s the funniest plumber we’ve got in the squad. UP THE BOTTY “
