Dr Watson wins the day on and off the pitch for Shirebrook

A superb crowd of 205 saw Shirebrook Town all but guarantee a NCEL Division One play-off place yesterday as they defeated Ollerton Town 2-1.

Kieran Watson was once again the star of the show as he not only scored the winner, but then received the award for supporters player of the season.

Assistant Manager Jamie Allan was obviously pleased with the win, “I thought we were good value today for the 3 points. Ollerton made it difficult but I think we controlled the game really well.

“At 2-1 it was a bit nervy and Ollerton kept having a go, which we would have expected from Dave’s team. It’s been a long week which we have come through unbeaten, we’ve managed to rotate and all the squad have got minutes and we have good options for the rest of the season.

“Regardless of how many games we need to play. Four big ones to go but we can’t look further than Tuesday against THE inform team in the league. We’ve asked the lads to keep it in our hands and they have really grown collectively over the last eight weeks, which is credit to the togetherness Rob has created.”
