Benn has a stern warning ahead of Athersley examination

A short hop of 8 miles or so for Hemsworth Miners Welfare tonight as they head to Sheerien Park and a meeting with Luke Potter’s eighteenth-placed Athersley Recreation and the Rec-In Crew in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division–and sixth-placed Wells Manager Wayne Benn is expecting the usual tough examination from the Penguins, writes Colin Muncie.

Hemsworth can close to within a point of fifth-placed Maltby Main tonight, and Wayne told the Bootiful Game; “Tonight we make the short journey to Athersley looking to continue on our good form. You know when you play them that you will never get an easy ride; we will have to earn whatever we get tonight because they will work hard and they will be very competitive-,as they always are. There is some quality in their as well so they are dangerous opposition for us and we won’t be kidded by league positions.

Wayne feels that his own players have recovered their early season sparkle.”They will get our full attention and respect but my lads are in great form, individually and collectively and at the minute we are going to provide a real test for anyone” he warned.

“We are full of confidence at the moment but we need to stay humble, keep working hard and hopefully our winning run will continue”.
