A crowd of just 49 saw Campion run out comfortable 4-0 winners last night against a lack-lustre Nostell Miners Welfare, writes Craig Kendall.
A Dan Brown brace (31st minute, 51st minute), a Graham Hall strike (34th minute) and a Devonte Morton goal (44th minute) was enough to seal the win, but Nostell joint manager was certainly not a happy man when we caught up with him.
“Lost for words!!! It was a shocking performance apart from the first ten minutes. I can’t really put the performance into words as I don’t think you could publish it!
“We have lost some of our players to injuries and holidays and it’s had a massive effect on the side but we won’t accept players throwing the towel in. I will shoulder some of the blame and ask myself have we been too soft with the players?
“Giving them days off to spend with there family instead of having them in training hard so maybe that’s worked against us. But since we got away from the relegation zone the problems have started. We are looking at players to move this club forward and am afraid we can’t move forward with boys.
“We need men, we need players that’s going to roll their sleeves up when things aren’t going right and grind a result out. As soon as we concede a goal it’s a matter of how long till we concede again and we can’t accept that. It’s not fair on us, the Chairman, the volunteers and the fans that turn up and watch.
“We will try to finish on a high Saturday and then start our plans for next season.”
