Millington pleased as landmark nears

Back on the winning trail for fourteenth-placed Dronfield Town in Toolstation NCEL Division One last night, as they overcame Retford United 2-0 at Stonelow Road; a result which, sadly, confirmed the Badgers relegation-and Dronfield Manager Chris Millington was happy to get the job done as an important landmark beckons, writes Colin Muncie.

Ryan Ruddiforth (24 minutes) treated the 60-strong crowd to a 1-0 half time lead, and Joseph Butler doubled the advantage with eight minutes to go.

Chris told the Bootiful Game “It wasn’t pretty tonight but we put another three points on the board which takes us within two points of our highest ever points total in this league. Sometimes when you make a lot of changes and don’t quite play as you would like you can be disappointed, but all in all I was pleased with the lads’ effort tonight with it being our third game in five days.”

No rest for Chris and his squad “We now have a couple of days of recovery before Saturday’s game with Campion which will be another tough game. They will be looking to avenge the defeat at our place (a 3-1 home win in November) and have had a really good result tonight against a good Nostell side” he warned.
