First rate match-ups up and down the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division this weekend-and none more so than the clash at Muglet lane between fifth-placed Maltby Main and Hemsworth Miners Welfare, just behind the Miners in sixth spot-and Wells manager Wayne Benn is keen to take advantage of the depth of his playing squad, writes Colin Muncie.
Wayne told the Bootiful Game “On Saturday we travel to Maltby for an important game that will undoubtedly have a bearing on where the two teams will finish this season. A few weeks ago, finishing 5th looked a tall order but after a good run from us it’s now in our hands and it’s been our target for a while. It’s not going to be easy-Maltby are a good side and are having a great season, and we will have to be at our best to win the game- but that will be our aim, to go there to try to win. We will need to make changes to cope with 4 games in 7 days but that’s what squads are for and there will be an opportunity for a few of the younger lads to really show us what they are about”
Wayne feels that the problems thrown up by the recent fixture pile-up require careful management “I’m looking forward to the challenge of Saturday and also the challenge of trying to keep a small pool of players as fresh as we can during this busy period- without hopefully losing too many points, if any.
