Hemsworth Miners Welfare, still targeting a top-five finish in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division, welcome newly-relegated Parkgate to the Yorkshire NuBuilds tomorrow afternoon. It’s “Wells Flat Capper “ day in Fitzwilliam in honour of Hemsworth founder Mark Crapper, and the hosts are offering attractive incentives for punters wearing the appropriate headgear; but before he assessed tomorrow’s last home game of the season, Wells’ Manager Wayne Benn was typically sympathetic as the curtain fell-for now- on the Steelmen’s Premier Division stay, writes Colin Muncie.
Wayne told the Bootiful Game “Tomorrow we entertain Parkgate in our final home league game of the season and I was sad to see the news last night that they have been relegated. I always enjoy our visits to Parkgate; it’s one of the best pitches in the league and we always get looked after, but they have got some great people behind the scenes in Albert, Bruce and Colin and an experienced manager in Billy so I’m sure it will only be a short stay in Division One. They can come tomorrow, free from pressure and that makes them dangerous”.
Wayne is still determined that his players bring a fine campaign to an appropriate close “We must concentrate on the job in hand” he said “As I’ve said many times ,we want to finish as high as we can and we have to apply ourselves properly for two more games. We will have a couple of players back available to freshen things up a little and I’m expecting us to put on a good performance for the fans”.
“We want to finish well in front of our fans; they deserve that, as once again, they have been fantastic all season”.
