Tenth-placed Bottesford Town heaped more misery on in-transition Worksop Town with a 4-0 victory at the Birkdale Stadium yesterday afternoon and immediately set their sights on finishing even higher up the standings –and , as Poachers Head of Media Operations Howard Pirie told us, it has been a stellar week for Bottesford’s 36-goal top scorer, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee Ridley gave the home side a dream start in front of a good crowd of 105 at Ontario Road with a goal on two minutes, a lead they held until the break. In the second period; however, recent dad Declan brought home the Bacon with a hat-trick (67, 75 and 85 minutes) to clinch three points in convincing fashion.
Howard was pleased with his side’s industry, and is looking forward to a strong finish. He told the Bootiful Game. “It was a hard- working performance against a resolute Worksop side on a very heavy pitch. Lee Ridley showed his class with a high quality header to open the scoring. Declan has had the week of his life since the birth of his daughter. He proceeded to bang another 3 in and celebrated by burping Dayle Hutson”.
“Good luck to Worksop who are in an absolute rut at the moment” Howard offered.”Win our games in hand and we can finish in 8th place, above the likes of Bridlington which is a great achievement as they have a harbour. Liversedge on Tuesday at the Stadio”.
Howard signed off with his own trademark finish. “Up the Botty”, he said.
