Sam Smith on song as Hallam’s play-off hopes kept alive with 4-0 win

Hallam’s game yesterday against Rossington Main had to be switched to Doncaster as Hallam’s ground was being used for Cricket – but that didn’t matter as The Countrymen hit Main out the park – winning 4-0.

A brace from Sam Smith (5, 47), and goals from Mitch Dunne (31) and Benjamin Thornton (43) saw a comfortable afternoon for Hallam – a result which keeps their play-off hopes well and truly alive.

Assistant Manager Dean Bamforth was pleased with the win, “Great response from our lot today, target was to take it to Monday (against Champions Knaresborough Town) and we’ve done that. Pressure is on Glassy (They face Worsbrough BA on Monday) now for first time. We just need to sort our side out and see what happens. Spoke to Mozz (Worsbrough Manager Lee Morris) and he’ll try do us a favour which is without doubt.”

Whilst joint manager Scott Bates, “We did well today great reaction from mid week, the lads started great and was really pleased with all round performance. Onto the last game and see what happens, either way the squad we have had for second half of season and have been top draw. The lads deserve all the credit for the fantastic second half of season.”
