Late Pikes goal seals promotion!

It was last day drama at Haworth Park yesterday as a late Casey Stewart winner saw Pickering Town snatch that second Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Play-Off spot with a 2-1 win over ten-man Hall Road Rangers –and 46-goal Pikes marksman Ryan Blott interrupted the celebrations to give the Bootiful Game his own reaction to a fantastic campaign at the Recreation Club, writes Colin Muncie.

After a goalless draw in front of a bumper crowd of 238 at Dawson Drive, Joe Danby put the visitors in front after 56 minutes. When Joe Mortimer levelled for Hall Road after 73 minutes, AFC Mansfield were back in the hunt for that precious runners-up spot ; but , not to be denied , Stewart popped up with an 81st minute winner for the North Yorkshire club, triggering joyous scenes in Hull and Pickering.

It’s been a fine season for Paul Marshall and his players, and Ryan told us “We’re up! Get in! It’s a great achievement for Pickering. It was going down to the wire but fortunately we held our nerve”

“This is much deserved for the club and the team” he added “As a group we’ve made history for the town and club”.

The Bootiful Game would like to add our congratulations to the Management, Players and Staff at Pickering Town, and thanks them for their contributions to TBG this season.
