NCEL left-back signs for National League Spireites

Handsworth Parramore youngster Brad Nicholson has capped off a fine season with the first team by earning a deal with Chesterfield FC and new manager Martin Allen.

An article about the move on their official website says, “19-year old Brad, came through the Handsworth ranks, and went onto to spend the whole of the 2016/17 season with Jas Colliver at Sheffield FC, Jas brought Brad back to the club at the start of the current season.

Brad’s performances at left back have caught the eye of a number of pro clubs explained 1st team manager Jas Colliver ” We have helped open doors at a number of pro clubs for Brad and I’m delighted he’s got a deal at Chesterfield, he’s a talented player who has all the attributes to make it in the pro game, he’s been patient and when he was given his chance to impress in the 1st team he took it with both hands and has been superb for us.”

Jas added ” Brad’s success story is another great example of how young players at our club can seize the opportunity and use a 1st team opportunity to help improve their game while putting them in the shop window… and where that leads is in their own hands.”

“We believed in Brad and he bought into what we were trying to achieve for him personally and for the team as a whole… the message to all our talented youngsters is simple …keep on working hard …your chance will come … and when it does do your best to make the most of it”.

Ambers Vice Chairman Steve Holmes added ” Were delighted for Brad , he has had a brilliant season under Jas , and at just 19 years old he has a great opportunity to forge a career in the pro game, he’s worked hard with Jas and the management team he got his head down listened to the gaffer and has got his just rewards , its another feather in the clubs cap …with another youngster pushing on with his career and credit must also go to our Junior and youth coaches who work so hard to put the right foundations in place, we look forward to watching Brad’s career with pride and interest”.

Brad said of his move to the Spireites “I’d like to thank Jas for believing in me & developing me as a person and a player, he’s persevered with me and has been relentless in trying to get me a chance. “

He Added ” Also the whole club have been great with this move , its something I’ve always wanted and I will be giving my all to be a success at Chesterfield Football Club. I can’t wait to get started but finally I would like to wish Handsworth all the best for the future and really hope promotion is soon”

Ambers fans wont have to wait long to see Brad in action for his new club as we host Chetserfield Fc at Sandy Lane on Tuesday 24th July …. we’ll have full details of our pre season schedule in the coming weeks, our senior section presentation event is in the Ambers bar this Sunday from 2pm…. everyone is welcome as we celebrate with our award winners .
