NCEL leading scorer Jake Day has signed a 1 year contract with Bridlington Town after having a fantastic season last year scoring 48 goals and becoming the leagues top scorer.
Day attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and they are delighted Jake has chosen to stay at his local club and shown loyalty in an era where’s it’s lacking.
“Jake has become a real fans favourite and even Tottenham have stole his song and sing it about Harry Kane “he’s one of our own” Jake has been a pleasure to work with since I signed him not only in his performances on the pitch but he’s also becoming a leader in the dressing room”, said manager Curtis Woodhouse.
“I’m delighted he’s signed his contract and I wouldn’t swap him for any other number 9 in the league. Jake is already a talented player but I think he’s probably operating at 60% of what he can be so it’s my job to get that extra 40% out of him and it will start in preseason.”
Day added, “I’m delighted to sign my contract and as soon as the manager told me he wanted me to sign a contract I was keen to get it signed as soon as possible. I have had lots of phone calls since the season ended but I honestly think at this stage of my footballing education I’m at the right place and under the manager I’m learning and improving every week. I’d like to thank the fans for really getting behind me and also the chairman Pete Smurthwaite and the manager for showing this belief in me. I aim to repay them with a few more goals and some silverware.
“Personally it was an amazing season for me last year and I’ll be looking to improve this year. I’m excited to work with the new players the manager has brought in and we believe we have a squad capable of challenging for the league title and I can’t wait to get preseason started.”
