It’s good news for Armthorpe Welfare as two more of last season’s squad, goalkeeper Adam Stevens and captain Steve Garner, have agreed to stay at Welfare for the 2018/19 season, writes Steve Pennock.
Stevens missed a large part of last season through injury, making 15 appearances, but returned to fitness towards the end of the campaign whilst Garner was a tower of strength in defence last season and also moved into midfield on occasions, making 39 appearances in total and is now only five appearances short of reaching 200.
Garner said, “I am pleased to be staying at Armthorpe for another season. I feel like we have a lot more to show than what we did last season and I would like to help the club get back into the Premier Division where we belong.”
Stevens added, “I’m really pleased Mick has shown great faith in me. I spent a lot of last year injured and I can only thank Mick for keeping me as his number one when I was fit again. I’m excited to see what the new season brings as I know Mick will be workinghard behind the scenes to strengthen the side. We had a great end to last season and I feel the group is tight. I just can’t wait to get started and have an injury-free season challenging for the top 6!”
Both players will be available to be sponsored for the new season for the cost of £35 per player. Email for more information.
