Just last month Brackley Town defender Alex Gudger lifted the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium in front of 35,000 fans but last night it was confirmed that he had signed for National League side Solihull Moors.
Thier official site says, “Moors are pleased to announce the signing of 25 year old central defender Alex Gudger from Brackley Town. He has been an ever present with the Saints in his two year stint at St James Park and was also a member of the squad that came so close to gaining promotion to the National League last season losing away at Harrogate Town in the play-off final. A week later he played at Wembley in the nail biting Buildbase FA Trophy win over Bromley.
Alex progressed through the youth ranks at Nuneaton Town as they won promotion the Conference but is was at Rugby Town that he made his mark as a 19-year-old and went on to play 111 times for them collecting the Player of the Season award in his first season and being made Club Captain for the 2013/14 season.
He signed for Worcester City in the summer 2015 and onto Brackley for the 2016-17 season. At City he played 46 games winning the Sponsors’ Player of the Year award.
Alex also has the distinction of having been selected for Jamey Vardy’s last V7 Football Academy which has seen a steady uptake of the first 84 players into the Football league.
He becomes Tim Flowers first signing since his appointment last week and the Moors manager is delighted to have secured the services of this talented experienced player.
