Six weeks ago or so Robb Camm stepped down as Shirebrook Town manager but in a superb u-turn, the club this afternoon announced that he was back!
“Shirebrook Town are pleased to announce the return of Rob Camm as first team manager after a successful season on the pitch last season but unrest off the field Rob felt he could no longer be apart of Shirebrook Town and handed in his resignation.
After a very turbulent start to preseason with everything up in the air at the Langwith Road Ground Rob agreed to return much to the delight of everyone involved. There is change throughout the club and Rob wanted to be part of this and move the club in the right direction.
Coming in with Cammy is a Shirebrook legend from seasons back Lee Widdowson as assistant, Chris Timons as club captain/assistant and Alan Widdowson as first team coach.
Rob had this to say about his return to the club
It’s good to be back, I came in last season because I wanted to help the club and we had some great times on the field. Obviously things weren’t going to plan behind the scenes and I felt I had no choice but to step away. I feel now that these issues are being resolved and we need to move forward. It’s going to be tough we are under no illusions about that but we will rebuild and we will come back. We have a terrific core group of young local players that will have gained valuable experience last season that will play a big part for us. The players loyalty to us last season and again returning this season is fantastic. Now we have to get our heads down and get to back to work
We wish the lads all the best for 2018/2019 and guarantee full backing from all involved and welcome back lads.
