Young goalkeeper Tom Collins has joined NCEL Premier Division side Barton Town on a work experience programme, just like fellow Scunthorpe ‘keeper Sam Riches did last season with the Swans. He made his debut in the 4-3 win over Grimsby Town on Monday and is now looking to cement a first team place in Dave Ricardo’s side.
Their official website says, “A strong and commanding figure, Tom isn’t afraid to put his body on the line for the team, and he is already looking like a great player with bags of potential.
Some Swans fans will have already seen him in action as he played during Barton’s friendly against Scunthorpe United’s Under-18’s earlier in pre-season. He kept them alive in the game pulling off a string of fantastic saves to deny the Swans, this is hopefully a sign of things to come from the youngster.
Tom will be sponsored by The One Point this season and will be contending with Nathan Popple for the number one shirt.
Welcome to the club Tom, we look forward to having you on board this season and we hope that you have a successful season with us and enjoy your time at the Easy Buy Stadium.”
