ANDERSON confident Knaresborough can compete in the NCEL top flight!

On Saturday Knaresborough Town make history as they play their first ever game in the NCEL Premier Division with an away trip to Albion Sports.

Last season’s NCEL Division One champions will be with Paul Clayton who stepped down as Assistant Manager a week or so ago but Gregg Anderson has stepped into the role and he gave us his thoughts going into the tie, “Really looking forward to getting the season started and we are hoping we can mix it in the NCEL Prem!

“We have had a bit of an indifferent pre season with certain results etc but we have had so many players fighting for a place in the squad.

“Bit of a re-shuffling of the back room staff with Paul Clayton stepping down because of work commitments but with myself moving to Assistant Manager and Colin Heath moving to Player-Coach  it’s freshened things up, new ideas, new dynamics to training and the way we play so myself, Stanny and Colin are full of positivity for the upcoming season!

“We aren’t worrying about anyone else on this league apart from ourselves. We know we have recently been promoted and have never played at this level before so we are just going to take it game by game, just like last season and see how we fare!

“In any football season there are so many up and downs, twists and turns but all what matters that we keep the same values and beliefs as last season and im confidant that we can reach our targets and compete at this new level!

“We travel to Albion Sports on Saturday and from what we have seen and heard they are a hard team to break down and have been a strong and competitive team in the NCEL for a few seasons now. It’s going to be a good test for Knaresborough Town F.C.

“The players, the club and management are excited with the challenge of the 2018/19 season.”
