Saturday will see Thackley manager Patrick McGuire go solo for his first competitive game after Mike Garrod decided to step aside during the off-season – but the youngster is more than up for the challenge that lies ahead – starting to top flight new boys Eccleshill United – a derby to kick off the season!
“Traditionally, the first game of the season is 100mph with everyone out to grab the win and get that first three points on the board.
“Saturday will be exactly that and more with us facing our next door neighbours Eccleshill who are on a high after earning promotion last season.
“In my eyes the game won’t define how the campaign will go for either side, regardless of the result, but everyone is buzzing for it and I’m sure it will be a cracking affair. I’m looking forward to seeing the lads in action and I hope it’s a great game for the punters.”
