Job well done for NCEL top flight new boys Knaresborough!

Anderson happy to get 3 points on opening day!

After getting promoted from the NCEL Division One last season you could have forgiven Knaresborough if they thought they’d have been in for a tough first game. It proved just that, but they managed to secure a 1-2 win against Albion Sports. Knaresborough’s goals coming thanks to a brace from Brad Walker, writes Mitchell Radford.

Gregg Anderson (Knaresborough assistant Manager) had this to say on the game:

“We started the game like we’d never meet each other before! We didn’t do the simple fundamental basics in the first twenty minutes and they deserved their goal. Liam didn’t really have to do anything else in the game apart from pick the ball out of his net.

“After the first twenty minutes we got hold of the game and should have been two or three up at half time, we didn’t take our chances in first half which is disappointing.

“Second half it was like someone just turned the light switch on and in large spells we moved the ball well, with purpose, did the basics well and Albion didn’t really hurt us at all second half.

“Brad Walker was brilliant for an hour and took his goals really well! Loz Hunter had a very solid performance as well! We looked a solid outfit for 65 mins!

“We can take things out of the game and work on them in training this week before the trip up to Ashington in the FA Cup.”

“Job done though! We wanted 3 points and we got them!”
