Millington relieved to be up and running with points on the board

Chris Millington’s Dronfield Town got their Toolstation NCEL Division One season up and running at Stonelow Road last night with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Rossington Main-and the Town Manager felt that a pre-planned change in tactics helped to secure the points, writes Colin Muncie.

However, it was the visitors who hit the front after 24 minutes through James Milner, but Dronfield levelled just on half time thanks to Richard Mintoft. The 86-strong crowd then looked on as a double from Christian Savage (50 and 83 mins) secured the three points for the Derbyshire side.

Chris told the Bootiful Game “We changed the system tonight and it paid off. I thought that we played with intensity throughout the game -which we didn’t on Saturday. It was a game where we needed to do a bit of everything to get the result. It’s a relief to be up and running and now we have a little break before we visit Worsborough a week tomorrow”.

Chris is actually glad of a few days inactivity. “We have a few walking wounded after the two opening games” he admitted “so as daft as it sounds, a break early on in the season is welcome!”
