With just eleven minutes left –and a 2-0 lead- at the TJ’s Travel Arena last night, it looked for all the world as though East Yorkshire Carnegie were about to clinch an impressive first-week-of –season Toolstation NCEL Division One double over last season’s Play-Off Semi-Finalists Glasshoughton Welfare; but the home side battled back to clinch a late 3-2 win, leaving EYC’s Manager Leon Sewell bloodied but unbowed, writes Colin Muncie.
Leon told the Bootiful Game “Credit to Glasshoughton. They’ve ground us down tonight and got their reward with a 90th– minute winner. It’s obviously a bitter pill for us to swallow; I thought we were worthy of at least a point tonight. However we’ll learn from it and we’ll move on to our next challenge on Saturday”.
“All the best to Glasshoughton for the rest of their season”.
