Cable brace helps rescue point for Selby in 8-goal thriller!

Selby and Emley play out epic eight goal thriller!

Last night Selby Town and AFC Emley turned out to be game of the night. With both teams coming off the back of opening day wins, this game had the potential of being a quality game and so it proved.

AFC Emley raced into a 4-1 lead by the half time break. Two of the goals were actually own goals, unfortunately scored by Nicholas Kennedy, and Ryan Gothard. The other two goals coming from Ruben Jerome in the 2nd minute, and Adam Williams in the 18th minute. Selby’s goal was scored by Samuel Cable.

Selby did not give up, which you could have forgave them for being such a way behind at the interval. 3 goals in 15 second half minutes saw Selby draw level at 4-4! The first of those goals were scored by Samuel Cable again who bagged himself a brace in the 49th minute, Alasan Ann bagged Selby’s third in the 54th and to round off the comeback Joshua Berry on the 64th minute struck home for Selby.

That’s how the game finished, AFC 4-4 Selby Town. The 233 faithfuls who turned up to watch the game (which is a very good attendance) were treated to a fine spectacle that was definitely worth the entrance fee!
